Says a trade source, " Madhur Bhandarkar had almost shelved Heroine. He even told this to a senior journalist over a cup of coffee on March 2 that he wasn't keen to make this film because Milan Luthria's making The Dirty Picture that's also set against the backdrop of the film industry.
Madhur felt it would be a bit much to have two films releasing around the same time with similar subjects." However what Madhur proposed, Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur opposed. They hold Madhur in high esteem especially after Fashion and are pushing him to make Heroine. Says our source, "It is Siddharth who even spoke to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan asking her whether she would meet Madhur for a basic narration of Heroine."
