Zara Phillips tones it down a little for the last day of Cheltenham

Zara Phillips does not have the same appreciation of - or influence on - fashion as fellow royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton. The professional equestrian has always been much more interested in horses than hats.

All the same, Princess Anne's daughter had impressed throughout the Cheltenham Festival this year - until a slightly controversial harness-inspired mac yesterday that did not leave us chomping at the bit. Zara toned it down today though with another beige trench coat - clearly by the same designer as yesterday's as the shoulder straps were the same.

This military-inspired trench coat was worn elegantly buttoned right up to the neck. The jacket had a black leather belt and buttons from the cuffs to the elbows. She accessorised with a simple brown felt hat, similar to yesterday's black number, a black patent handbag, lace-up heels and her trademark big sunglasses.

Zara was relaxed as she chatted to friends in the parade ring after the Gold Cup - despite her fiance's Rugby woes. Mike Tindall, who usually captains the England Rugby team, has been ruled out of tomorrow's Grand Slam decider against Ireland due to an ankle ligament strain he received during last weekend's clash against Scotland. Nick Easter will wear the captain's armband this weekend instead.

Katie Price, who has a well-documented passion for horses, also attended the final day of the festival. The reality TV star had toned her look down a little too. She was dressed all in black, but for a fuschia clutch bag and pair of platformed stilettos.

Her most striking accessory, though, was new boyfriend, Argentine heart-throb Leandro Penna. Lily Allen, who has recently moved close to Cheltenham, also attended and looked much more casual in a patterned maxi dress and long grey coat.

Her fiancee, the dashing Sam Cooper, was by her side all day and together they watched some of the horses she bet on, including Zarkandar, win her some money. The Cheltenham Festival is the most prestigious event in the UK National Hunt racing calendar. Only the Grand National has a bigger pot of prize money.

The Gold Cup, the festival's biggest race, took place at 3.20pm this afternoon and was won by 7-2 favourite Long Run, ridden by amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen, who overtook three former champions in the final few metres of the competition.
