Lily Allen sparks romance rumours as she strolls in Cannes with a mystery man

After wowing fans with her sunbathing show yesterday, all eyes were again on Lily Allen as she stepped out today with a dashing male companion. The Smile star - currently enjoying a break with friends at the exclusive Hotel du Cap on the French Riviera - glowed as she walked along famed hotspot The Croisette in a fetching pink outfit and short denim skirt. Lily, 23, has endured a torrid time romantically, following a miscarriage and recent break-up from Chemical Brothers singer Ed Simmons.

But she appeared to have put her troubles behind her as she went for a relaxing stroll along the seafront with her mystery man. But the singer told the Daily Mail today she is "just friends" with the man, who she has known for some time - either from school or through her family.
She said she has gone on the holiday to soak up the sun, relax and to come to terms with the death of her friend Traka Cordell last week. She revealed she is not drinking in the day but spending her time reading and sleeping then going to bed early.

With the world's media watching out for A-list celebrities, Miss Allen stripped down to her bikini bottoms to sunbathe on the terrace of the hotel, where she is staying with friends. Located just along the coast from Cannes, the hotel is a favourite with Hollywood's big-hitters and one Lily has enjoyed staying at before.

At one point, she was spotted frolicking in a water front pool with a group of male companions. The singer made the most of the clear blue sky, sunbathing in a tiny bikini, and showing no reservations as she peeled off her top. Lily is among a stellar crowd flocking to the South of France ahead of the Cannes Film Festival this week including Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn and Faye Dunaway.

Her decision to holiday during the high-profile festival indicates that she is still determined to revive her presenting career despite failing to win ratings with her chat show Lily Allen and Friends on BBC3. But she told our reporter it is a coincidence she is in Cannes at the same time and "can't be bothered with the festival" or attending any parties. Lily is currently said to be working on a TV comedy with Gavin & Stacey stars Mathew Horne and James Corden.

Corden, who rumoured to have shared a romance with the singer in recent months, apparently encouraged her foray into sketch writing. A source told The Sun: "James loves her ideas and shares her sense of humour. He reckons the humour from Lily's first album, 'Alright, Still' will come across on the small screen. "If they can recreate the laughs they have together at the pub it should be interesting to hear how their stuff turns out."

The performer has had a difficult year so far after suffering a miscarriage in January and splitting from boyfriend Ed Simons from band the Chemical Brothers. She blamed the stress of her TV show for making her go up three dress sizes to a 12 but said recently she was determined to slim down for the summer. As these pictures show, her efforts have paid off.
