Yahoo has launched its new microblogging platform which is called Yahoo Meme. Yahoo Meme will be competing against popular microblogging services such as Twitter, Tumblr, Pownce and others.
Yahoo Meme has been launched in English, Spanish and Portuguese languages. Yahoo Meme is currently in an invite-only mode. After creating an account, the user will get a blank blog for micro-sharing text, images, music, videos or mash up of all these things. Yahoo Meme users can also add new friends by searching the internet, which is similar to Twitter and Tumblr.
However Yahoo Meme does not provide users the option to customize themes with background images or custom CSS to style text, such as provided by Twitter and Tumblr. The setting options available are Meme title, description of 100 characters, avatar or photo and notifications.
Yahoo had earlier closed down its social networking platform SpotM, so it is to be seen how Yahoo Meme competes with Twitter, Tumblr etc.
