Posh Trend: The Blazer & The Dress
When it's not quiet hot enough to wear a dress on it's own, what does a bony celebrity do in order to prevent goose bumps while wearing their itty bitty designer dresses? Put a chic blazer on of course. Recently many celebrities including socialites Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian have been taking the modest approach to dressing by wearing slim fitting blazers over cocktail dresses.
While where on the topic of socialites, Laguna Beach's Kristen Cavallari, along with Britain's finest Kate Moss have been pairing inexpensive yet awesomely printed Topshop summer dresses with classic black blazers. The look isn't revolutionary but it's definitely classy and makes wearing one dress twice as fun the second time around.

Balmain Jeans worth the Green.
Balmain jeans have hit the fashion circuit like there's no tomorrow. Well, for some of you interested in a pair of the french fashion house's denim, there may be no tomorrow, as the jeans are flying off the rack at record speeds.
Christophe Decarnin's designs were first seen on Paris' fashion elite including Vogue's Fashion Director, Emmanuelle Alt, top model Natasha Poly and mini pop sensation Kylie Minogue. Now they've made their way across the pond and have been seen on the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna, Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham, Ellen Pompeo, Nicole Richie and Kate Moss.
The appeal of Balmain jeans comes from their worn and torn "lived in" look which gives them that extra edge which designer Decarnin constantly aims for. However, the fact that these jeans are constantly sold out isn't the only reason they are so difficult to obtain. Some have scoffed at the US $2000 + price tag which might also act as a deterrent. No matter how you feel about this look and price tag, Balmain jeans are the hottest investment of 2009.

MET Costume Institute Gala 2009
That time of year is already upon us...you know, the one where fashion's finest faces wear their most exquisite couture dresses only to have them smelling like an ash tray by the end of the night from chain smoking sessions in the ladies loos. But by the looks of things, perhaps a cigarette burn or two would have done the dresses worn at the MET gala some good.
This year, the The Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was a rather daring fashion affair. The theme, "Models and Muses" was definitely being overplayed by guests including supermodel Kate Moss who turned up hand in hand with designer Marc Jacobs. She wore an off the shoulder gold lame mini dress with matching turban head gear by Milliner, Stephen Jones. I actually liked this look a lot, it's 'Mumbai meets Manhattan'.
Ashley Olsen looked wore a draped creation by her own label, The Row. She looked sophisticated and gorgeous as always, but a lot less frisky than the others.
Her twin sister, Mary-Kate Olsen, kept her unique style in a Christian Lacroix sequin, tulle and lace dress. It was a pimped out Esmeralda, from Hunch Back of Notre Dame costume.
I'm sorry, but WTF is this? I'm all for following themes, but seriously WTF? Madonna looked like a haggard old mess in this Marc Jacobs concoction for Louis Vuitton-fashion victim at its finest.
Finally, a bunch of girls that looked decent at the event. Kate Hudson, Kate Bosworth, Liv Tyler and designer Stella McCartney arrived as a fabulous foursome. The girls played it really safe and sophisticated as they wore designs by Stella McCartney. Stella's lace jumpsuit was definitely a hit, she looks fabulously unique.
And now someone who's dying for me to stuff my two fucken dead finches in her hair. Tyra Banks wore a brutal Buzz cut style bun with a gorgeous black Badgley Mischka Couture fishtail gown and jewels by the designer.
Although Anne Hathaway's look was criticised, the disco-tec hair is super cute with yet another Marc Jacobs dress. She accessorised with Pour La Victoire shoes and Van Cleef and Arpels Camelia earrings.
Now back to the theme "Models and Muses", aren't models meant to look hot? If that's the case, then Eva Mendes definitely suited the part. This look has been seen a thousand times before, it's boring but it still works.
Finally, Rihanna. This is her first public appearance after the alleged assault by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. RiRi's gorgeous make-up was worn with a Dolce and Gabbana satin tuxedo featuring exaggerated 80's puffy shoulders. I hated it at first, but the more I look at it...wait...i still don't get it. Hey, but you allowed to have fun with your look right?
This years gala was tragic to say the least, it felt more like an advertisement for Marc Jacobs designs then anything else and according to Cathy Horn it is Marc Jacob's company "whose company is sponsoring the event", which also resulted in talented designers like Azzedine being exempt from the gala along with his muses Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista...and they reckon this was meant to be a "model and muses" theme...please...

Leopards at the Zebra Crossing
Kate Moss has recently brought out her wild side favouring her bold Leopard print fur coat over demure style on various occasions. Animal print was brought to the forefront again last season with Balmain's collection of zebra stripes, raging red leopard print and golden snake coils. Emmanuelle Alt showed her support for the brand in a shoulder padded silver sequin and zebra print jacket.
While Kate Moss wore a pair of flared zebra pants to her daughters birthday party, a fashion week attendee took it a step further by literally wearing zebras on a grey jumpsuit which resembled a pair of pyjamas i owned as a child. For those of you who have a rack full of Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse inspired scarfs from a few seasons back now have an excuse to bring them back out.

Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art continued...
Janet Jackson is one of the biggest yo-yo dieters in the world and on this night her figure was good enough to pull of the white Versace dress. I don't care that Donatella Versace has had heaps of plastic surgery because her figure is looking damn HOT! Allegra Versace was modestly dressed in lovely lilac, but it wasn't enough to cover her dainty bones. Her face is looking a lot healthier and more beautiful.
All in all, the Costume Institute Gala brought out the many stylish people, with many looking good, but more effort could have been made to play up the Superheros:Fashion&Fantasy theme, i'm sure the $5000-a-day stylist could have come up with something that is both beautiful, creative and a little risky.

Campaign to Carey: Versace 2061 B
She accessorised with her favourite Butterfly rings, M for Mariah necklace (really Mariah is spelt with an M!? Who would have thought...) and a pair of Versace 2061 B shield style sunglasses. These sunglasses were featured on Kate Moss and Carolyn Murphy in the stunning Versace eyewear campaign and needless to say they both looked smoking!I think Mariah looks pretty good in them as well even when stacked up against these supermodels.
So who wore the Versace 2061 B sunglasses better? Kate, Carolyn or Mariah?

Anyone Cooler than Kate??
Kate was seen heading back home to England after days of heavy shopping and playing in California. For her flight back she chose to wear a comfy sea-green tank, indigo bootleg jeans and a pair of trendy fringe Minnetonka Moccassin ankle boots.
She gives off the illusion that she is minimally accessorised but in fact, she accessorised with a white Hermes Birkin bag, polka dot scarf, necktie, cocktail rings and plastic aviator sunglasses.
The only thing i don't get is why she wore sunglasses inside and chose to squint ferociously outside??

Malibu Barbie: Kate Moss in California
In a casual very Californian style outfit with cut-off short shorts, tee (sans bra) and cardie, she took the kids out for a day at the Markets.
It seems her new Boyfriend, Jamie Hince is a good influence on her life, so much so that, that according to rumours, they're considering marriage.

Clubbing Style: London to L.A
As we all know a favourite past time for many celebrities is hanging out at the high fly clubs from L.A to London. This month saw quiet a few celebrities head to their local clubs to party the night away in great and some not so great outfits.
Socialite Kimberly Stewart's style has become a lot more refined of late with a new short crop and a 70's twist to her look in a sleek jumpsuit and wooden soled shoes. Whilst one of her BFF's Paris Hilton appears to be going for more of a weird hippie/gypsy look of late with headbands, glitter, bright lips and all.
And then there's the British girls such as Kelly Osbourne who prefers to club in much more lady-like outfits then her past years of punky rocker trash. Whilst Kate Moss plays the Star-Spangled Girl in a jumpsuit from the Spring 2008 collection as she headed out to celebrate her 34th birthday.
And then you've got Pamela Anderson doing her darn-tooten-best to make Fendi look Tacky.

Star Spangled Girl

We all know that Stars have been hitting the runway in the last few seasons but Kate Moss takes it to a whole new level.
These new ads in the making show Kate Moss and her funky new hair do wrapped and strapped in a stars from her starry white dress to star logoed shoes.
This is definitely one star studded outfit...ohh and what do you think of Kate Moss' new fringe?
Gorilla Suiting
It's Big, it's Black! It's hairy!!!
Each winter we see at least one fashionista wrapping up from the winter chills in a oversized furry black jacket, otherwise known as the 'Gorilla Suit'.
As usual it was the Brits with Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham daring to venture out in a look that others would happily avoid. However, for those who love the hairy look but don't want the excess why not do like Maggie Gyllenhaal and wear little furry shoulders to bring a little ape into your life?
If I'm going to wear the gorilla look i would do it all the way just like Miss Moss, so will you be donning the Gorilla look this winter?

Star Spangled Season
Stars definitely seem to be a prominent print on the runways this season, with Chanel going all Patriotic on us with Stars and stripes, while Anna Sui used stars for accessorising purposes only with scarfs, brooches and bangles.
Previous seasons saw Viktor & Rolf going all out with the theme as seen on their flamboyant star printed shirts, skirts and tuxedos.
Thandie Newton was also seen this week wearing a discreet starry handbag, while Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell opted for cute shirts.
...it will be interesting to see if this become a mass trend.

Kate Moss Man Style dressing

I keep getting bombarded lately with a lot of Man Style looks appearing on the runways, in editorials and on our favourite celebs...and who better to get style cues from than Miss Kate Moss?
Seen here wearing a simple black outfit topped up with a tailored grey blazer, two loosely done up ties all topped off with a discreet black fedora. She retained the element of femininity by choosing a floral and bright purple tie, a thick cuff bracelet and toting a Chloe handbag.

Maggie Gyllenhaal for Agent Provocatuer
Maggie Gyllenhall has replaced Kate Moss as the new face of Agent Provocatuer lingere. Conjsidering it is very hard to beat supermodel Kate Moss at pretty much anything to do with looking good, Maggie really pulls off this old glamour tone that the campaign has put in place.
I think these three photos from the campaign are very womenly and alluring to both men and women alike. Except there is one photo of Maggie on a chair that looks really quiet freaky and not in a good way...
It's no suprise Agent Provocatuer did not renew Kate Moss' contract with her private/public life with Mr Doherty overshadowing her career.

Celebrities Old Fat and Gender Confused?
I love these celebrity pictures that have obviously been photo shopped in order give us a little bit of insight into the way in which these celebs will look if they put on a couple of pounds, added on a couple of years or perhaps changed their gender.
For some reason, i can imagine Fergie and Madonna looking like that in 20 years and the Nicole Richie one is perfect. I can't really tell the difference between Michael Jackson in the photo and at his present state. And doesn't Paris Hilton make a good man?

Stella McCartney Dress: Who Wore it Better?

Super-Supermodel Kate Moss and style queen Victoria Beckham were both seen this season wearing a Stella McCartney Vest Dress.
Posh wore this black sequined tank dress as a long top paired with 3/4 grey skinny jeans and sky-high lace-up shoe booties.
While Kate Moss wore it with black tights, black ballet flats and dark eye make-up.
Both kept the colors to a minimum, but the styles are very different, so who wore it best, Kate Moss or Posh?

Celebs in Latex Leggings
Latex leggings are one of those clothing items that you would skip at first glance and never think much about it again, UNTIL you see Kate Moss rocking her version at the Glastonbury Festival, then it's sure to become a trend with the mass'.
Since then Victoria Beckham, Hilary Duff and Juliette Lewis were all seen wearing this hard to pull off look. While Kate Moss opted for a looser-high gloss version, Hilary Duff, Ashley Olsen and Posh wore it skin tight, as for Juliette Lewis she just went crazy with the trend...tight, glossy and bright red!!
Haven't seen latex leggings in stores, but i'm sure they will pop up on Ebay or American apparel anytime soon.

Latex leggings and waxed jeans
With the whole patent look successfully making it's way down the runways to main stream public, it's no surprise that waxed jeans and latex leggings are on the rise.
It's apart of the whole tough girl look that's been evident on the runway's for the fall season which include black, leather and patent styles. High gloss adds an 80's touch, however shine may attract attention to those bits and pieces of the body that may be in less than perfect shape. For those who don't like the out-there look try waxed jeans.
I'm trying to find myself a pair to see if it works well in reality or at least on my body, but it's been harder to find than i thought. When i find an (affordable) pair I'll do a post on it.
