She did her schooling in Kendriya Vidyalaya, where she enjoyed sports, debates and plays.She majoring in Economics at the Fergusson College, Pune. She has also earned an MBA in marketing from Symbiosis College, Pune.

Personal life Batra was married to orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sonu Ahluwalia, Los Angeles, California between 2002 and 2010.
