Courteney Cox enjoyed a day at the beach with her Cougar Town

Courteney Cox and Josh Hopkins might be enjoying an idyllic beach holiday in St Barts, but the actress has made it clear they are just good friends.

But it seems there is someone who would like to see a romance developing - Hopkins’ father.

’I would approve of it,’ revealed the politician, adding that ’they are both very good looking people’.

Speaking to U.S. website Radar online the Kentucky Congressman added that he didn’t know for sure that the pair weren’t dating.

’I know he likes her and is very fond of her,’ he said of his actor son. ’He’s said she’s a very nice person. If he approves of her, then I approve of her.’

His comments came as Courteney, previously linked to another Cougar Town co-star Brian Von Holt was pictured frolicking on the beach with her friend today.

The 46-year-old actress looked relaxed and happy with Hopkins, 40, wearing a black bikini which showed off her toned body and flat stomach.

Hopkins looked equally as delightful in a pair of flower-patterned dark blue board shorts.

They were also reportedly spotted by onlookers holding hands after the cameras stopped rolling on set.

The pair have been swamped with rumours that they are in a relationship for a while.

But with shooting on their hit ABC sitcom reportedly wrapped for the season, this time together is certainly a holiday and not just together for work.

The pair frolicked in the ocean and enjoyed some down time after wrapping filming on their hit show

But a source close to Hopkins told Us Magazine: ’They are strictly, strictly platonic. It’s a group vacation. She’s close to her co-stars.

’She’s been like that since Friends. But there’s nothing more going on.’

Also on the trip is Cox’s six-year-old daughter Coco who is co-parented with her estranged husband David Arquette.

The mother-daughter duo had a delightful time frolicking in the ocean and Cox scooped up her bundle of joy into her arms as they were hit by a wave.

Courteney’s ’mini-me’ looked like a tiny version of her mother with the same raven hair.

They held hands as they walked onto the shore and were in good spirits as they enjoyed their Caribbean vacation.

Later Hopkins joined the girls for a romp in the crystal clear waters and went for a paddle together in the turquoise sea.

It is unknown how Arquette feels about this jolly vacation as it is reported that he is open to putting his family back together.

And just last week Courteney gushed about Arquette who she has been separated from since last September.

At a junket for Scream 4 she said of her estranged husband: ’Oh my God, I’m so proud of him’, Cox gushed and said of his post-rehab appearance: ’Best he’s ever looked. He’s so cute!’

Courteney also recently revealed that she would have ’huge waves of pain’ if her marriage to David did not survive.

Meanwhile, David, 39, told Oprah last month that he is sure he and Courteney will get back together.

He even proclaimed that he did not turn to pain medication after his head-on collision recently. He was not seriously injured in the crash.

Last week the estranged couple were pictured out together and went shopping at their local flower market.

The couple, who have homes in Malibu and Beverly Hills, split at the end of last year shortly after they had finished filming Scream 4.

David ensued on a non-stop partying marathon and eventually checked himself into rehab voluntarily following a wild New Year’s Eve party.

After a month in treatment, the pair have been working quietly on mending their relationship, sources told RadarOnline.

In the April issue of Haper’s Bazaar magazine, former Friends star Cox said that she has no bad feelings towards him.

She also seemed to hold out hope for a possible reconciliation, saying of her 12-year marriage: ’I don’t know what is going to happen.’

Arquette spoke to chat show host Oprah about the rumours last month, saying although he did believe there was some truth in it at the time, he now is confident Cox was not romantically linked to Van Holt.
