Ashley Tisdale's mother Lisa copies her daughter's style

Ashley Tisdale may have no need for a stylist - but her mother Lisa may be in need of a few pointers.

As the High School Musical star did a little shopping in New York today she was accompanied by 54-year-old Lisa, whose outfit almost exactly mirrored that of her 25-year-old daughter.

Ashley wore a black mini dress with a large gold necklace over the top and oversize sunglasses as the mother and daughter enjoyed the designer shops and sunshine.

Her mother was equally stylish in a black leather version of the minidress, which like Ashley she teamed with a statement necklace and sunglasses.

While Ashley stepped out in fierce black ankle boots, her mother stuck to sandals, but ensured they stood out with a leopard print.

Later the ladies both added stylish coats to their outfits when the sun went away - Ashley in a deep red and Lisa a camel coloured jacket.

They also swapped their shoes with the younger changing into gold heels and her mother turning heads in leopard-print knee high boots.

Ashley has previously spoken out about her close bond with her mother.

’My mom is very confident and she was always a role model of mine,’ she said. ’I never really looked up to celebrities when I was young.

And she told how her mother inspired her: ’I definitely work hard at stuff. I never give up on things.

’If I’m going to do something, I’m going to go a 100per cent into it - just like my mom.’

Ashley is busy promoting Disney’s latest High School Musical movie - the straight-to-DVD Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.

The movie is a High School Musical spin off that follows Tisdale’s character Sharpay Evans’ life after her graduation.

Sharpay travels to New York where she is pursuing a Broadway career, but instead it’s her dog who lands an acting gig first.
